Greetings friends!
We are down to the last 30-ish days of 2021. Overall, I think it’s been pretty good. As I look back over the past several months, specifically since July 1, I’ve had some really good days. I have already mentioned it, but I am so happy to be here. And I know that there are many great days ahead. I think it is important to see the possibilities of each new day.
Maya Angelou said, “This is a wonderful day. I have never seen this one before.”
Those are words well spoken.
What if we approach the Christmas celebration, the New Year, and every day after with that attitude? How amazing would that make our days?
Psalm 118:24 reads, “This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
And Philippians 4:4-8 tells us, “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Scripture is clear about how we are supposed to face the days ahead. We know that nothing is certain. And we know that nothing is easy. But we are to rejoice. We find our strength, joy, love, peace, patience, kindness, and mercy in our relationship with Christ. And I think we can all agree- that’s a good feeling.
May God bless you throughout this Advent, Christmas, and New Year season. May your joy celebrations be filled with loved ones. May your homes be warm and safe. And, may the love of Christ fill you. And may you make that love real to someone else.
Peace,
Pastor Donny
