Serve Your Church through Helping Others

The United Methodist Church has a long history of reaching out to others in service and love. We believe in showing God’s love through our words as well as our actions. At the First United Methodist Church of Decatur we support many local charities as well as our sister church in Strasnice, The Czech Republic. Please see the links listed below for more information regarding the other ministries we support. Thank you.

Our local outreach includes a different focus each month. Some of our recipients have included: WARM, CASA, Wise Choices, Decatur Senior Citizens Center, Wise Hope Domestic Violence, school backpacks and supplies for elementary school children in need, coats for school children K-8, Thanksgiving boxes for needy families, and FUMC preschool tuition assistance.

As John Wesley stated, “Do all the good you can, in all the places you can, to all the people you can.”

Our sister church in Strasnice, Czech Republic

Did you know that FUMC Decatur shares a very special relationship with our sister church congregation in the Czech Republic, Strasnice?

Our Czech Republic committee meets regularly to discuss plans for communication, visits (both to and from their church), gift exchanges, etc. We have immensely enjoyed the visits from their members. Also, our members have received so much in their visits to the Strasnice church, near Prague. We would welcome anyone into our committee, as each person has input, and brings valuable suggestions for growth between our churches. We want to keep our congregation informed, as well as reminded often about our ministry. It is a relationship – the fellowship and support we offer to one another through this ministry has truly been a Godly experience. If you are interested in serving on our Czech Republic Committee, please contact the church office.
