The people of the First United Methodist Church of Decatur are commited to serving God and neighbor.
Rock House Food Pantry
The Rock House Food Pantry provides wholesome meals to local families facing food insecurity. Volunteers are needed each Sunday from 1-4pm and each Wednesday from 3-6pm to organize stock, greet recipients, and distribute food.
Blessing Box
The Blessing Box is located under the portico and is regularly stocked with food, toiletries, and other necessities. Neighbors in need can access it 24 hours a day. Thousands of pounds of food has been shared with our neighbors through this ministry. Volunteers are needed to keep the box organized, clean, and filled each week.
The Great Day of Service
Each year, the people of FUMC Decatur provide Thanksgiving meals to over 200 neighbors in need. Volunteers are needed to donate, sort, package, and distribute meals.
Foundation 4 Orphans
The First United Methodist Church of Decatur partners with the Foundation 4 Orphans to empower a group of 90 orphaned youth in Mozambique, Africa. The orphans in this group receive emotional and spiritual support, job skills, and the tools and capital they need to start their own business so they can live a life of dignity.
