May 2022: Habit of Worship

Greetings!

Well, we have made it through Lent and Easter, and we are headed toward the end of school and summer. I was excited to be a part of this Easter season in Decatur. Now is a time to celebrate accomplishments and begin to look at our summer plans. I know many of you will be taking vacations. Many will be doing staycations. Both are great ideas for unwinding and making time for family.

I encourage both.

But I urge you to stay in the habit of worship. It’s easy to let yourself miss Sunday after Sunday once you miss a week or two. But the body of Christ needs all its parts. Hebrews 10:25 tells us, “And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.” We are called to gather in fellowship as we live into the hope of Jesus’ return. It’s ok to take a Sunday off, but not an extended leave. You have a part to play in the sharing of the Gospel and in the building of the Kingdom.

As a side note, I can’t believe that we have already been here for a year in July. Time has really flown by and I look forward to what God has for us next.

Peace,

Pastor Donny
